Dear Friends,
Celebrations are afoot in N’Djamena, Chad!
Director Yves and his wife Agnes are celebrating 31 years of marriage this month. Yves and Agnes have been pillars of the community and fine models of what a joy-filled Christian life ought to look like. Their children threw a special party for them to commemorate these many years of blessed marriage. May God continue to bless them with many more years, and continue to use them to further His Gospel work among the deaf in Chad!
In Nigeria, we helped facilitate the seminary education of two deaf candidates, John Ayanwole and Cyprain Oraetoka. This year (2024-2025) is their last year at ECWA seminary in Jos. We pray the Lord uses them mightily through the training they received. Across all of Nigeria, there are an estimated 30 churches for the deaf, and many of them could use pastors and leaders with advanced Bible training. With that goal in mind, we have other candidate we’re evaluating for sponsorship after John and Cyprain are finished. We’re also re-evaluating means for effective sponsorship. Pray for wisdom as we navigate these challenging issues.
In Baraka, director Shukuru hosted a parent training seminar. Seminars like these are critical to getting parents to be involved with the education of their deaf children, and addressing the challenges that the school is facing. Regrettably, many of the parents feel that they are wasting time and money with their deaf children, and subsequently, don’t feel a need to be involved with the operations of the school. So it is on us to demonstrate to them that their children are indeed worthy of love and investment, despite being deaf.
Indeed, your prayers are coveted.
